Chaney Cares Spearheads New Boys & Girls Club

Chaney Cares is spearheading the construction of a brand-new Boys & Girls Club in southern Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Alongside the Boys & Girls Clubs of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County (BGCAA), we’re on a mission to provide a safe place where young people are inspired and enabled to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.

The new Club will be located in Lothian, MD, across from Southern Middle School, and will serve as the eighth Boys & Girls Club managed by BGCAA. Other Clubs include Wiley H. Bates, Bywater, Admiral Oaks, Freetown Village, Meade Village, Heritage Overlook, and recently completed Severn Center. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County are led by Lisa Lindsay-Mondoro (CEO), Tyrnita Moore (Director of Operations), Elisa Clayton (Director of Finance), and Loren Weisman (Director of Resource Development).

Chaney Cares, the philanthropic arm of Chaney Enterprises, has been dreaming of bringing this Club to life for years. For decades, Chaney Enterprises has supported the communities in which it operates through philanthropic leadership, charitable contributions and sound stewardship of natural resources. We are passionate about supporting local youth and the future workforce for generations to come. We’re proud partners of many Boys & Girls Club organizations in areas where our employees live and work.

The new club is in the final stages of the design process with award-winning architecture and interior design firm, Bignell Watkins Hasser Architects PC. True to its Southern Maryland roots, the new Club will boast a barn-inspired exterior design with 11,000 square feet of Club space and an additional 8,500 square foot gymnasium.

The current interior design includes multipurpose classrooms, a tech center, a teen center, a teaching kitchen, a game room, reading nooks, staff offices, conference spaces, and more. The Club will also feature a learning garden and outdoor play area for Club members. The goal is for the space to serve as a hub for local youth, families, sports teams, and community organizations.

Fundraising for the new Club has officially commenced. There are multiple naming opportunities available, as well as opportunities for smaller contributions. For more information about making a donation, please contact Madison Sloan at 240-444-6282 or [email protected].
