To build foundations for family success by supporting education, employment, and homeownership initiatives.
History
The Chaney Foundation was established in the 1980s by Francis “Frank” Chaney, II, as a way for Chaney Enterprises to give back to the communities where its employees live and work. As a private foundation connected to one of the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern regions’ leading construction materials suppliers, the Foundation provided monetary grants and scholarships, helping to support local organizations and initiatives over several decades.
As Chaney Enterprises expanded its operations and geographical reach, the growing need for a more streamlined and inclusive community outreach program became clear. In 2021, the Foundation evolved into Chaney Cares, reflecting a renewed commitment to fostering family success through the support of our people, our community, and our environment.
Through Chaney Cares, we’ve built lasting partnerships with local affiliates of key nonprofit organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Raising a Reader, Farming 4 Hunger, and the Boys & Girls Club. Our support includes annual grants, volunteer initiatives, and an employee charitable matching program, all designed to strengthen the communities we serve.
Over the years, our commitment has resulted in millions of dollars donated to our nonprofit partners. Today, we are proud to embark on our first major capital project—establishing a Boys & Girls Club in Lothian, Maryland, continuing our mission to build stronger communities for generations to come.
