Volunteer Time Off
All regular, benefit-eligible employees at Chaney Enterprises are granted 8 hours of paid time off for volunteering each year! Volunteer time off (VTO) is granted in addition to an employee’s regular paid time off (PTO).
Employees may volunteer during regularly scheduled work hours for any registered 501c3 organization found on Guidestar.org. VTO can be requested through Paycom, just like regular PTO.

Examples of Appropriate Uses for VTO:
- Building a house for Habitat for Humanity
- Volunteering at a food bank
- Cleaning up a beach, park or trail
- Collecting items, then filling and distributing back to school packs
- Organizing a Cancer walk or run
- Becoming a Big Brother/Big Sister
- Volunteering at a local hospital
- Volunteering at an animal shelter
- Judging a science fair competition
- Serving on a nonprofit board
- Volunteering at an animal shelter
Examples of Inappropriate uses for VTO:
- Attending a parent/teacher conference
- Coaching your child’s basketball team
- Attending your child’s PTA conference
- Serving as your child’s scout leader
- Participating in activities of a religious nature (i.e., attending a religious conference or camp; any event where the activity involves promoting, teaching or proselytizing religion)
- Participating in activities of a political nature (i.e., staffing voting booths or activities supporting political issues or campaigns)
- Coaching or playing in adult sporting leagues with no charitable fundraising purpose
- Participating in neighborhood association events
- Playing in a charitable golf tournament
